North Korea called for more stringent and comprehensive countermeasures to ensure the health of its citizens. It comes from the rapidly spreading outbreak of coronavirus. It was at a political bureau meeting of the Central Committee of the ruling party. The leader, Kim Jong Un, published on Sunday in state media.
The Korean Central News Agency said that the widespread virus posed obstacles to the country’s economic construction efforts. Although it added that “the country has maintained (a) a very stable anti-epidemic situation”, thanks to its “strict high-class emergency anti-epidemic measures … Consistency and mandatory institutional protection measures.
A representative of the World Health Organization to the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea told Reuters on Tuesday. The country is continuing coronavirus testing. And also, it has more than 500 people in quarantine. Yet, North Korea still have no reported cases yet.
A joint resolution adopted at a meeting of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers ‘Party of Korea on Saturday. It aims to take “more comprehensive state steps to protect the life and health of (its) citizens from the world’s great infectious disease.”
This also included goals of “continuously stepping up national emergency anti-epidemic services. Moving ahead with economic development, growing national defense capability, and stabilizing the welfare of this year’s people,” KCNA said.
Previously, the North had declared that the larger Supreme People’s Assembly took place on Friday.
The KCNA said part of its agenda from Saturday’s meeting “is to be discussed at the 14th Supreme People’s Assembly’s 3rd session”. But, it was unclear when the session will take place or occur.
