Bitcoin closed up 5% to US $ 50,942.58 on Wednesday (3/3) trading. This means that the price of bitcoin increases by $ 2,426.23 a day.
Compared to this year’s lowest level, Bitcoin, the world’s largest and most well-known cryptocurrency, has gained 83.7%. Throughout 2021, the lowest level of Bitcoin occurred on January 4 at the level of US $ 27,734.
However, when compared to the strongest level this year, the value of Bitcoin on Wednesday fell 12.7%. The highest level of Bitcoin this year occurred on February 21 at US $ 58,354.14.
Quoting Reuters, Thursday (4/3/2021) the increase in the price of Bitcoin this year is due to the increasing support the cryptocurrency has received among large companies such as BNY Mellon, asset manager of BlackRock Inc, credit card giant Mastercard Inc. In fact, companies such as Tesla Inc, Square Inc and MicroStrategy Inc are also investing in Bitcoin.
The second largest cryptocurrency, Ether was also boosted in price, up 7.8% to US $ 1,595.64 or an increase of US $ 106.84 compared to the previous close.
Large Companies Have Joined Bitcoin
A number of large companies have indeed flocked to buy Bitcoin. One of them was Tesla, who bought US $ 1.5 billion or around Rp. 21.1 trillion.
Tesla also opened a payment option for its company’s products using Bitcoin. Apart from Tesla, there are BNY Mellon, BlackRock Inc and Mastercard Inc which also support the cryptocurrency.
Over the past year, MicroStrategy has been aggressively collecting Bitcoin. The company made its first investment last August. Meanwhile, last week the company also bought 19,453 Bitcoin valued at US $ 1.03 billion or Rp14.7 trillion.
