Spotify to support more countries
Noted from Tech Crunch, Spotify is adding 85 new countries and supporting 36 new languages for the platform. There will be 40 additional countries from Africa, 16 more from Asia, 2 from Europe, 15 from the Caribbean and Latin America, and the last 12 countries coming from Oceania. Free and premium plans will be available in the newly added countries. Though, some offers from individual, family, duo and student plan might only be available in selected countries. Along with adding more countries to the app, Spotify expects to discover more music genres by working with local rights holders and partners.
Spotify Audience Network
Through the “Stream On” event, Spotify unveiled the new audio advertising marketplace project, the Spotify Audience Network. Spotify refused to spoil a lot about the project and simply said that it is currently in the early stage of development. The company also said the beta test phase might be conducted soon. According to Tech Crunch, Spotify will likely scale its Streaming Ads Insertion (SAI) technology along with the help of the recently acquired company, Megaphone. The new ad marketplace will not only allow podcasters to make more money through ads but also for companies who are looking to put ads on the app.
Spotify HiFi
Soon, premium subscribers in select global markets might be able to experience the new Spotify HiFi feature. For an unmentioned additional fee, premium users can listen to music in “CD-quality, lossless audio format,” Tech Crunch quotes. This feature, according to Spotify, is one of the most requested features from its users.
Spotify Marquee
Last but not least, Spotify also launched a set of new creator tools and resources as well as the expansion of Marquee. Marquee was first launched in 2020. Artists can promote their new releases through full-screen, sponsored recommendations to all Spotify users. Soon, artists can self-serve Marquee’s offers and manage their campaigns anytime and update the artists’ profile anywhere.
Additionally, Tech Crunch also reported that Spotify is granting Canvas for all artists listed in the app. Canvas presents looping visuals to users when the music is playing.
