Xiaomi plans to beat the number of shipments of Apple and Huawei smartphones by 2021.
Xiaomi targets to ship 240 million units of smartphones next year. However, the company’s internal target is actually to ship 300 million units of smartphones.
However, it seems that xiaomi wont get the target because the component supplier companies are unable to fulfill the target.
Companies like Qualcomm and MediaTek cannot commit to providing that many components for a single company, especially at a time when supply chains are being hit by the Covid-19 pandemic.
If it manages to reach 240 units, Xiaomi surpasses Apple
If Xiaomi manages to achieve the target of shipping 240 million units, the Chinese company has outperformed Apple, which usually ships around 200 million iPhones.
While at its peak, Huawei managed to ship 240.6 million smartphones in 2019. The highest figure ever for the Chinese company.
However, it is likely that Huawei’s shipments next year will decline due to US sanctions. In addition, Honor is no longer part of Huawei and will have a significant impact on the company’s market share.
Xiaomi managed to become the fourth largest smartphone maker in 2018 and the following year it shipped 125.6 million units.
Reporting from Gizmochina, the IDC report claims Xiaomi shipments grew 16 percent year on year (yoy) to 104.5 million units in the first nine months of this year.
Reporting from Equal Ocean, Xiaomi is currently the fourth largest company in the world in terms of smartphone shipments.
